Cheerleading & the Springfield Cardinals Game

We started the morning off headed to Incredible Pizza.  When we got dressed, I had Tbug dress for warm weather but at 10:21am it was only 69 degrees which was incredible for July.  I love my heat, but this is extremely nice as well.

AL is on the board for the JYCA so it was funny because Hubby and Tbug kept asking her if she was “bored” since she was a “board member.”

After we left Incredible Pizza, AL, JT, their kiddo’s & Divergirl headed to the ball field.  Hubby and I ran an errand before we got there.  When we got there, we jumped in line with all of them.  The Cheer girls went over and did some warm up stretches and ran through part or all of their routine (I didn’t get to see it all so I’m not really sure).  Then Tbug and I walked 2 blocks to Walgreens to get some waters.  Even for being nice, we were still thirsty 🙂

Just before they opened the gates an ambulance showed up.  People were wondering if someone was hurt but for every game they need paramedics on scene in case something bad happens.

As we entered the gates, the first 2500 people received a statue.  All the kids also got ice cream sandwiches.  Look, it turned Tbug’s teeth brown… lol.  Waldy had it all over his fingers so we had to stop by a bathroom while he washed his hands.  Good thing because someone stopped Divergirl to sell her something so it gave her a chance to meet back up with us.

We had fabulous seats.  Then about the 2nd or 3rd inning a whole bunch of the cheer girls left so we were able to move even closer to the field.

I had Tbug pose while we were waiting on Waldy.

The Springfield Cardinals feed the St. Louis Cardinals and their team they were playing, Northwest Arkansas feeds the Kansas City Royals so it was kind of a Rival game.  It was also a GREAT game.

The JYCA started off the evenings festivities.

Then they had a gymnastics team from Waynesville, MO perform.

The only thing wrong with our seats was we were over the dugout for the other team, but it didn’t matter, we had GREAT seats!

I saw this kids face and loved it.

There were 2 different people who did the opening pitch of the game.  She was the second.

D the Man was a few rows in front of us and he threw a box at Divergirl that still had marinara sauce in it.  Woops!

The Pop Up Challenge had kids at the far end of the field trying to catch a flying ball.  If they did, they won Domino’s Pizza.

They also had an Instagram contest going on.  We were to tag our photos with #sgfgrams to enter the contest.  We had to submit before the 6th inning.  This was one I submitted but Divergirl was telling me what to put, what to type, etc.  Sorry boys, I still prefer my hubby’s rear 🙂

You can’t go to a ballpark without ballpark food, right?  Nachos, Funnel Cake, popcorn & not pictured, a pretzel with cheese.  No, this wasn’t all eaten by the same person!!

My love.

Like Zebragirl’s new teeth?  They were Yogurt covered Raisins.

At the end of the game, the kids got to run the bases.  They entered at 1st base and ended at home plate.

I felt bad for the guy who was getting covered by the sprayers out in outfield.  Oh and there was one little boy who tried to run to outfield.  It was cute.

Hubby and JT caught up to us and he walked up and said, “I went to a baseball game and got a quarter back.”  Look in his hand… lol.  Nut!

And I thought it was great.  As we were leaving to go home, it was 7 minutes later but the same temp as when we went up, except 12 hours later 🙂

Such a fabulous day, oh, and the Cardinals won 6 to 5!!

Incredible Pizza – Springfield, MO

Yesterday hubby, Tbug and I were invited up to Springfield to go to Incredible Pizza & then to a Springfield Cardinals Game to watch Zebra Girl’s cheer team perform before the game.  Heck yeah, we were in!!  Sounded like a great day of fun.

AL said to meet them at Incredible Pizza around 11am for lunch.  We beat them there by a few minutes.  In fact, they were just opening when we got there.

Get Your Morning off to a Good Start

Our first night in grandma’s RV was quite, um… interesting.  Between the night before when I had an adventure getting to the bathroom and then in my sleep I kicked my leg, hit the wall, kicked back and hit hubby and then turned over and grumbled at him.  Needless to say he slept in a different bed the remainder of the night… lol.

That morning hubby’s alarm was set to go off at 6am.  Just shy of the alarm going off though, I swore I smelled bacon.  I opened my eyes to see hubby across the RV sleeping and then his alarm went off.  The night before Earl and I were discussing how if you thought about a smell, you might just actually smell it.  After that, I believed :).

Hubby went up to AL & JT’s camper before I did, to start the bacon and eggs.  Our plans were to have Bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Sadly though, when we got up there, the raccoons had gotten into the bread box.  The funny part of it (even though it was more aggravating than anything) was they got into Moo & AL’s specialty bread and one package of hamburger buns and left all the rest of the bread alone.  Moo can’t have gluten and AL can’t have Gluten, Rice or Eggs, so their bread was the most expensive.  We joked the Raccoon’s have expensive taste.

Hubby’s rear hasn’t shown up in a while, I just had to share… lol.  I was teasing him because both of his pocket flaps were up.

Oh goodness, this bacon was awesome.  We prefer the Hormel Black label thick cut maple bacon.  Pokey dropped a piece on the ground and ate it anyway even though we told him there was plenty more.  He was like it’s too good to waste.

I was half asleep and somehow got my flip flop on wrong.  Oh well, it happens.

As hubby was finishing up the bacon, JT started the eggs to scrambling.

As I mentioned, AL can’t have eggs due to allergies so we made special pancakes for her.  We took care of her even though she hates when people plan meals around her.  It’s all good, AL, just remember, we love you!

We decided with the eggs and bacon, we needed OJ.  It was delish!

We had a big day ahead of us, stay tuned to find out what we were up to!!!

Earl's Birfday – Sunday Night Dinner

**Just so you know, today is my 4 year Dativersary with the hubs**

Now back to regularly scheduled programming.

So what happened this week at Sunday Night Dinner?  I’m sure you’ve been sitting on the edge of your seat just waiting to know… lol.  Monday was Earl’s birthday so it was a sorta Earl Birthday.

Hubby and I got Earl some nice Rachael Ray Knifes.

She told AL she wanted new boobs.  AL said she had to do something she could afford but they made her a fund. lol.

And there’s a huge story that goes behind “The Bucket” but I wasn’t involved so I won’t share… lol.

The theme was Italian so Earl made Baked Spaghetti.

I made Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo.

Divergirl brought watermelon!  YUM!  Just saying.

We also had salad.

B2.0 brought this yummy Brownie Triffle.

And they made our knockoff Wendy’s Frosty per Pokey’s request.

I haven’t seen Cara Jo lately.  Awe, I missed this cute kitty.  And no, I don’t want a cat… I’ll just admire Cara Jo.

Noah and hubby both decided to start picking.

And here’s proof 🙂  I hope you enjoy.

Afterwards we all wound up outside enjoying the beautiful evening.

Happy Birthday Early!

Blackberry Jam – Holy Yum!

As you know, we went blackberry picking here recently.  Well at the Amish store up the road from where I live, they sell blackberry jam.  I told my mom I’d like to give it a go and make my own.  She said, here I’ll give you some blackberries if you’ll make your dad some.  Well, I planned on making him some anyway but I already had my blackberries frozen so I took her up on the offer.

It was soooooo super easy to make.

First wash 5 cups of Blackberries.  Simple, right?

Next you’ll want a Tablespoon or 2 of Lemon Juice.  One thing, if you don’t think your lemon will give you much juice, you can press it on the counter a few times or stick it in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.

I used my juicer to make sure I got all the liquid, but you can easily use your hand to get the liquid out.

Next, add 7 cups (sounds like a lot I know.  My blackberries were first picking so they needed a bit more sweetness) sugar to the berries and lemon juice and bring up to a boil.  At first you may wonder where all the liquid comes from, but trust me, it’ll come!

Stir together and bring this mixture to a bubble.

Once you have it at a bubble, add your fruit pectin.  The pkg is 1.75 oz or 49g.  Boil this for 1 minute.

While you have the jam working, place your lids in a pot of simmering water.

And make sure to sterilize your jars.  You can do this in the dishwasher (mine was already running) or a pot of water.  Make sure the jars are completely covered and boil for 10 minutes.

Then while the jam is still hot, bring the jar over and start filling it up to 1/4 inch from the top.

It is easiest to make sure you use the jar filler funnel.  It makes things a lot easier as you can see… it’s kind of messy :).

Make sure to wipe the rim of the jar off with a clean towel.

Then place the lid on and screw the top down.

I placed mine in a pressure cooker, but I’ve seen where people have a pot and just fill it over the rim of the jars by 1 inch.

Bring it up to a boil for 10 minutes.

After you’re finished “cooking” them, place them on your counter to cool.  Make sure to use the jar grabber so you don’t burn yourself.

And Viola!  You have blackberry jam.  This made me just over 7 “jam” jars.  I believe they are 8oz jars.  They are generally sold as Jelly Jars.

Enjoy over toast!  Now to be sinful… you can add a few tbsp of this to a few tbsp of butter and put over a fresh off the grill steak.  I’m just sayin 🙂

Camping Take 2

So a couple weekends ago we headed to the lake again.  Another camping experience under my belt.  This time we borrowed my grandma’s Winnebago.  It was a bit of an experience getting down there.  We got about 40 minutes from home and the RV started surging.  We were a bit freaked out.  We pulled over 20 miles later (first safe place to get over) and were in a Wal-mart parking lot.  Hubby and JT ran in to find parts.  Luckily JT and AL were following us!

We finally made it to the lake and got our RV set up, then we got JT & AL’s camper set up.  It was a warm day so we all changed clothes and headed down to the swim area to play around a cool off.

{Knockoff} Wendy's Chocolate Frosty

Does anyone know what this month is?  How about yesterday?  Well Ronald Regan back in 1984 declared July as National Ice Cream Month with the 3rd Sunday being National Ice Cream Day.  And yesterday just so happened to be National Ice Cream Day.  I’d like to share that we partook in that special event!  And now I really want to share this recipe with you because YUM!  AL shared this recipe with us earlier this month and holy cow is it yummy!

So what you need is a half gallon of Chocolate Milk.  We realized the larger tubs of cool whip worked better, but this works great also with the 2.  and a can of sweetened Condensed Milk.  Plus an Ice Cream Maker and all things needed for that.

In a mixing bowl add the Cool Whip

And the Sweetened Condensed Milk.

Stir together

And scrap into the Ice Cream Maker.

Next, top off with the Chocolate Milk.

Fire up the Ice Cream maker and let it run until it turns off.

And viola, you have a Knockoff Wendy’s Frost.

Happy National Ice Cream Month!!

btw, Happy Birthday Earl!!

Then just follow your freezer instructions.
