Week 4

How far along? It looks like 4 weeks…

Total weight gain/loss: a couple pounds gained.  I’m not sure how y’all lose weight in the beginning.  Maybe I still will, but right now I’m starving all the time.  I don’t eat all the time but I’m sure starving all the time.

How big is baby? Baby is the size of Poppyseeds. At 4 weeks your baby, now known as a blastocyst, is practically microscopic – a teeny ball of cells. Baby is busy settling into new home, prepping for all the crucial development it’ll be doing over the next six weeks.

Happy Halloween!

I guess I’ve never really gotten into the Halloween spirit… I lived in the country so really my parents used to drive me to my grandparents.  Then for a while my mom worked at a bank on the square in town and all the businesses would have the kids come trick-or-treat there, otherwise, that was the extent of my trick-or-treating.

I now live in the country so it isn’t like we get a lot of visitors but I always keep some candy on hand just in case someone decides to come see me :).

I saw on facebook yesterday that a lot of the schools around the area were doing their “Harvest party” yesterday… like one gal said, why?  And why not call it what it is people.  Let’s get over being politically correct.  It’s Halloween, celebrate it on Halloween.  There… that is solved :).

Last night as I was driving home from school I decided I really wanted Pepperoni Pizza for dinner so I ran by Walmart to pick one up (not enough time to make one from scratch sadly).  On my way home I started noticing that all the trees around me were gorgeous.  Since when did that happen?  I’m not complaining bug I guess we really haven’t had fall the last few years so it was just pure amazement to see the beautiful colors surrounding me.

This is on the back road coming up to my house.  This is just a gorgeous setting anyway with the trees “covering” the road like they do.  But gorgeous colors!

This is at the head of my driveway.

And this is looking out into my pasture.

It was just sooooo gorgeous and then add the rainy day on top of that.  Oh I was in heaven.  I snapped a few video’s.  In the first video, the thump is one of the dogs walking into something in front of my car on their way to greet me.  In the second video, you hear a neighbor kid holler which they had to holler loud as you can see if you look where the neighbors house really is.

I hope y’all have a safe and happy Halloween!

The Stuff I Cooked Last Night

Blame the title on hubby… Anyway, Last night as I was driving home from school, I thought about this pasta I had one time.  It is based off a Rachael Ray recipe and I thought, you know it’s raining, cloudy, cool, fall, this sounds good so I stopped by the store, grabbed ingredients and away I went.

Needed: Pasta, 28oz Can Italian Crushed Tomatoes, 1 Cup Ricotta Cheese, half a small onion, 1 Cup {store bought} Pesto, Italian Cheese (I used 2 cups), Parmesan cheese (I used about a cup).  Plus I had some hamburger that needed to be used up so I decided to throw that in.

Brown up the hamburger, sweat out the onions and cook up the garlic.

10 Things To Smile About October

Good Tuesday Morning to you.  How are you feeling this morning?  I’m exhausted.  I didn’t sleep well last night.  Add to the fact that it’s cloudy and rainy outside this morning and oy, I’m done!  But I have to get up and start my day and I thought it would be fun to start the day off by joining Emmy in her 10 Things to Smile About for the month :).  BTW, where in the world has this month gone?  Seriously!

1.  We spent a lot of time riding Snookums and getting her broke to ride earlier this month.  Wow, that seems like forever and ago.

2.  We were able to get my dad more hay for his cows for the winter.  I mean I guess I have a few cows/calves at their house too, but still, we got more hay to feed the cows this winter.  Score!

3.  No sugar added fudge pops have been our treat of choice here lately!

4.  While I was doing homework the other day I ran across the trailer for The Neighbors.  OMG, the part with the airbag cracked me up laughing which was really bad since I was sitting in the library!  Beware, this is a bit gross but if you watch, wait for the airbag!  It starts around 1:13 if you want to fastforward to that point.

5.  We got our Pumpkins carved for Halloween.  Sadly they molded and had to be thrown out, but we got them carved while Tbug could join us.

6.  We were able to go to Kansas City and see the Broadway Musical Wicked.  Btw, when you’re looking up tickets for someone make sure you type the website in correctly…. www.wickedthemusical.com.  YIKES if you don’t!

7.  Hubby and I got to go and see a Kansas City Chiefs Game!  As of this last weekend they’re now 8-0!  Woohoooo!

8.  I’m actually having fun writing my blog posts for Extreme Sports Scuba blog!

9.  My husband is GREAT.  Things have been crazy around our house lately and one day last week he brought me home flowers just cause.

10.  My cat snores.  When she’s not scratching the crap out of my hand, she’s really cute snoring!

Ok girls and boys.  That’s all she wrote.  I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!  I guess I’ll get up and head to school now!  loves and hugs!

The Cat Made My Hand Hurt

Saturday night I heard weird noises outside so I let the dogs come sleep in the house.  Sunday morning when I woke up I got up to go let the pups out and the cat was wandering around the living room.  I don’t really know how the cat will react to the dogs or the dogs will react to the cat so I went to pick the cat up and carry her into the bedroom to hang out with hubby while I put the pups out and the cat didn’t like me picking her up.  Now she’s front declawed, but she still has those mean ol’ back claws and look at what she did to my poor hand.  To say it hurts would be a bit of an understatement.

Let’s just say the cat went down the hallway and I had a few explicit choice words.  I’m not even sure what I said but I know it did include OUCH!

So I chased the cat the rest of the way down the hall by stomping my feet at her and then put the dogs out.  Audrey thought that she maybe smelled something she should check out but I told her to go to the door and luckily she listened.  Again I’m not sure how the dogs and the cat will react around each other….

I wasn’t real happy with the cat so she steered clear of me most of the day.  Later in the evening JT and hubby were in the house playing with hubby’s Infrared thermometer, you know picking on the poor cat.  Don’t worry, I took video 🙂

Awe, the poor cat.  We were having fun picking on her.

Then I had to go lock myself in my office so I could work on re-writing a paper for school.  After a while hubby came in to check on me when it was time for a shower and bed.  When I got out of the shower, I went into the office to grab my stuff and look who I found sleeping on my chair.  Hubby said she was apologizing for my hand earlier this morning.

It’s soooooo hard to stay mad at her but I’ll admit, my hand still really hurts.

Stress & the Loving Husband

Ah, I swear, I forgot how stressful being a college student can be some days.  Yesterday I went to class.  After class was over I decided to go home and study vs going to the library, partially because I was hungry and didn’t have any food with me.  So I drove home and pulled out all my homework.

  • British Literature: Finish book 2 of Paradise Lost, Some research & a media project.
  • Intro to Writing about Literature: I have 2 papers due in the next 2 weeks.  One is on A Doll House and the other is on Othello.  One paper will be a Classical critique and the other will be a feminist.  I get to choose which play gets which critique.  Plus I still want to do a rewrite on my first paper.
  • History of the English Language: I have a powerpoint presentation due in a couple weeks, a paper due at the end of the semester and a test next Friday.

Thinking about all of that just stressed me out so I thought I’d take a short power nap.  Yeah well… that didn’t work.  I was so tired I couldn’t keep my eyes open but at the same time I couldn’t get my nap in because all I could think of was all the work I needed to be working on.  Let’s just say it was an unproductive afternoon.

But I’d like to brag on my loving husband just a bit.  Earlier this week he knew that I was getting majorly stressed out so he stopped by the store and bought me these to perk me up.

I would like to report that I did finish my Paradise Lost stuff for today’s class though.  Woohoooo.  Up next… is it nap time yet?  Happy Friday.

The Red Coaters Are Coming!

I promise I’m not Paul Revere, although if I were, I would be famous and then have a chance to get on Dancing with the Stars, but that’s another post for another day, right?  Just know, I’m not famous and I probably never will get my Dancing with the Stars debut chance, but don’t worry, I’m not totally giving up on that dream!

Anyway back to regularly scheduled broadcasting!  On Sunday of this last weekend, hubby and I were invited to attend a Kansas City Chief’s football game at Arrowhead Stadium with some friends.  The day before we saw Wicked and had plans to stay the night in Kansas City anyway, my parents took us over by Arrowhead stadium where we met up with the scuba gang.  Gates opened at 10am so we stood around and chatted a bit before they allowed entry into the stadium parking area for tailgating.  D the Man heard that they were going to open gates a half hour early so we all piled in the vehicles and were sitting, waiting for gates to open right at 9:30.

Then it was a race to our parking spots to get all set up.  Once we were set up, D the Man took hubby and me around showing us the different areas of the stadium.  I had been to a Chiefs game one time back in 2004 but this was a new stadium so D the Man told me (I can’t remember) and hubby had never had the chance to go before.

We saw all the hot tailgating areas and saw a lot of interesting vehicles decked out for tailgating.  The hearse even had a casket in it with a bar-b-q grill.  How friggin awesome!  Totally impressed.  Soooooo should have gotten a photo, but didn’t sadly.

This is War Pony.  The gal and War Pony ride out onto the field when the game first starts and then any touch down the Chief’s make, War Pony gallops across the stadium field.

While we were walking around some of the different radio and TV stations in KC were set up with fun little games.  We got to do bean bag football where hubby won a coozie.  Then we got to play plinko where hubby and I both won coozies.

There was a boot set up where we could choose between 4 backgrounds and have our photos taken.  D the Man wanted his photo here because he’s actually standing in that background photo holding one of the flags.  He’s a Read Coater.  I’ve been told the KC Chiefs are the only ones who have a group like this.

You might be asking what a Red Coater is, well get ready to be wowed. The Kansas City Chief Red Coaters is a community-service based organization that for 50 years has served the city, surrounding communities, the region and of course the KC Chiefs.  They also get to be on the field to express their support on game day by holding flags as the Chief players enter the field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Hubby and I also chose to have a photo with KC Wolf.  Don’t worry, it’s super imposed as well, sadly!

We chose to make Chicken Salad for our tailgating meal.  YUM!  oh and we had grapes too.  Have I ever told you, the baby grapes are my favorite!

Once we were finished eating, we cleaned everything up, loaded it all back in the vehicles and of course got a shot of hubby and me with Arrowhead stadium in the background and then it was time to head in for the game.  So one really funny thing, as we were heading into the stadium, one of the workers admitted to us that she didn’t know that the Chiefs were NFL, she thought they were a college team.  Not making fun, just remembering!

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month and if you around football, you’ll actually see players sporting pink shoes in honor.  The Chiefs have a hall of fame area set up and I noticed this display case right in the middle of it.  Super cool!

Finally it was time to head up to our seats.  Game kick off was at 3:25.

As they were getting ready to start introducing the starting line-up, the Red Coaters headed down to the field.  They hold flags that the football players run past as they are being announced.

I am pleased to report that KC came into the game 6-0 and they left the game 7-0.  They won 17 to 16 against the Houston Texans.  Rock on!

And just for your viewing pleasure, I took video too :).  It’s less than 5 minutes 🙂

Kansas City, Wicked & Buca di Beppo OH MY

Saturday morning we were up bright and early.  My parents were at our house at 8 am.  Hubby made Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Sandwiches for us and then we all loaded up the car and headed to Kansas City.

What was the reason you may ask… Well, we had tickets to go see the Broadway musical, Wicked.

Mom has seen Wicked 4 times now, I’ve seen it 3 and dad, hubby and Tbug can now say they’ve seen it once.  I haven’t shut up about this musical to hubby since he and I were dating.  Earlier this year I went on-line and was googling Shrek (which we saw on our honeymoon) because we got to talking about that.  In the process, I stumbled across the fact that Wicked was going to be in Kansas City, St. Louis, and Oklahoma City (I know KC and Ok City for sure but I think St.L too).  So we were on a mission to get tickets.  They went on sale at the end of July or the first part of August and we made sure we’d have Tbug the weekend we bought tickets.

We didn’t initially tell Tbug because we thought it would be fun to be a surprise and sometimes she gets so dang excited, but we were all so excited we let it slip.  She knew about the tickets since they were purchased.

I believe Hubby and Tbug loved it.  My dad wasn’t so thrilled, but you win some you lose some.  Hey 2 out of 3 isn’t bad, right?

Mom wanted us to take Tbug up to the plaza for dinner.  Mom really wanted to eat at Buca di Beppo for dinner so we went on-line and made reservations for dinner at 8:30.  We’d have eaten earlier but they were busy!  My suggestion, if you go there you won’t make a mistake but make reservations!  It’s that good!

And I just want to share this piece of information.  Mark your calendars to eat pasta on Friday!

After dinner I went back to the room to take a shower and mom, dad, Tbug, and hubby stopped at Coldstone Creamery.  It was funny because as I was walking into the hotel I found some money on the steps.  I took it up to the front desk and told them I found it in case anyone was looking for it.  The gal at the front desk looked at me like I had a horn growing out of my nose.  Mom, dad, and hubby said that I was just too honest.

Then we found the survey that Tbug started filling out earlier in the evening.  She’s hilarious!

And that was our Saturday.  Happy Tuesday!!
