Let there be rain....

And there was rain. Lots and lots of rain. And flooding. Did I mention rain? The day after Christmas we got rain. And flooding. And rain. And flooding. They compared this to the flood of the fall of 1993, I'm not sure it was quite that bad, but it was bad. We lost electricity and then the river met the lake by my house... when that happens, it's only a matter of time before it goes over the road and closes us off from town. I don't think it ever did though... but the lake did meet the river. But with no electricity and no wood to burn for our fireplace, we stayed the night with my parents for a night. And our pond that never holds but about 2 feet of water at most was full and flooding into our field.

So much flooding caused the dams on the major lakes around here to open flood gates.

And after the rain, there was snow...

  1. Whoa. We of course have heard all about the crazy weather in your area, the rain and the floods and everything, and I was wondering how impacted you were by it. Crazy!! It sends shivers down my spine, awful memories of the time it flooded here pretty badly a few years ago - and I don't think our floods were nearly as bad as that!

  2. that's just crazy. I thought of the whole south that got affected by the crazy weather. I hope most of those are pictures others took and not how close you got to it.
