Newest Hobby

This Christmas season I've been putting my new found hobby to good practice. I've made quite a few different plates of Sugar Cookies for many different people and many different reasons. We had a friend who was in Ft. Worth we took some too. I made some for an auction. I made some for cookie plates that we delivery yearly.

I've found a new found fun hobby. I'd like to get better and I challenged myself the other night. So Cheers to a New Year. Happy 2017!

p.s. They're Champagne glasses in case you couldn't tell.... 😜.

Merry Christmas to All and to All a Good Night....

Ah, the joys of Christmas are over. I know I complain a lot about January, but I really just don't care for January. Tbug on the other hand does because her birthday is that month, although once upon a time I asked her if we could celebrate her bday in June. She looked at me like I killed her puppy. She was like 7. Then... last year, she asked me if she could celebrate her birthday with us in June. I told her NO. She asked why and I laughed and told her about this 7 year old who was offended I even mentioned such a thing. We all got a good laugh.

But that was just a side note... the real reason for the post is Christmas. And here is the calm before the fury... or something like that. Right now hubby, the girls, and I are living with my parents until we decide our next move after selling our house this late summer/early fall. We decided we were going to set our Christmas tree up in our little living room and we were going to open our presents just as a family Christmas morning (since Tbug was with us Christmas Eve through Christmas Day).

That morning we woke the girls up and downstairs we went. And guess who had visited..... SANTA!!!!

Then we proceeded to open presents up one at a time and see what everyone got. I 3 more Mr. and Mrs. Claus salt and pepper shakers to add to my collection. Hubby said one set even came from Hong Kong.

Tbug got tickled when she saw the diaper box. It was actually a Chiefs blanket that she said put the one at her mom's house to shame... lol. I have no clue... just what she said.

Now hubby's Kitchen Aid glass mixer bowl.... I debated and debated on what to get him and decided on this. I found it on Amazon at one point but wasn't sure so just left it in my cart for later thoughts. Then I went back 2 days later and it went up in price. I decided to go ahead and purchase it. The very next day, hubby knew I was struggling with what I wanted to get him so he was on Amazon and stumbled across this and went on and on about how I could get him this for his mixer. I had to put my poker face on, which I really don't have, and just go with the flow because it was already on its way to our house. The other item I debated getting him, which I did get him, was a casserole Crock Pot dish.

And then this thing. Last year Deb got her family each one and hubby went on and on about how much he wanted on. I actually got him this and had it since sometime in November.

Tbug was unwilling to tell us anything she wanted for Christmas this year. While we were in Ft. Worth I threatened her (not really, I just told her there were a lot of people looking and she needed to tell us, price was no option. We'd be the ones to decide if price was a problem) to tell us things she wanted. All she'd say was jeans... oh and then in Ft. Worth, this jacket. I think she was shocked to get this jacket, especially since the day before mom had gotten her one similar and so she never saw this one coming.

My Muck boots are cold, especially in cold weather so hubby got me some warmer ones.

Tbug got jeans. She mentioned though these might be her faves....

Abug always told Santa she wanted toys. This happened to be the year she got a lot of Frozen toys, but also Mickey/Minnie Mouse and some Breyer model type toys (horses/farm equipment).

And then my big present. I was in shock and hubby said that I actually had a go to hell look on my face at one point. ha! No seriously, I was just in total shock and awe that he got this for me. My very own professional series cookware.

After we finished opening presents, we got dressed and headed down to my Grandma's house for breakfast and presents with her and UJ and Renee. This was a seriously cool gift. Read the next picture (box lid).

So we were sitting on the couch at Grandma's house. I was trying to get Tbug to take goofy pictures with me but every goofy face I made was met with her smiling. <sigh>

Then we went back to our house, cooked lunch, and Grandma came up to eat with us. When we left, she was snoozing with mom and dad watching a movie and we were headed to the Chiefs game. Yes, a Chiefs game on Christmas Day! Plus we had to play with new gadgets while cooking. Hubby tried out some of his Kitchen Aid attachments mom/dad and AC/UB got him and of course his glass mixing bowl while I tried out some of my new pots/pans.

And while I was cooking/Hubby was playing, Abug was playing with all her new toys. At one point she was singing Frozen "Let it Go" while laying on the floor. I laughed when I looked down and saw this sight.

Christmas Eve

Years ago I started a tradition. I would make cookies for people who helped me throughout the year and on Christmas Eve I would go around delivering them. I missed a few years, but not many. When I got married, hubby continued that tradition with me. This year was no different. This year I made sugar cookies and spent a week decorating them so that they'd be ready to plate up and deliver on Christmas Eve. We then piled in the little red "sled" (aka hubby's truck) and off to deliver cookies we went. And out of all the plates we delivered, we only spoke with 2 of the recipients. All the rest weren't home so I left them in the normal places I have in the past and off to the next place we went.

Grady actually had heart surgery earlier in the week. In fact, he was released to go home Friday afternoon, just in time for the holidays. We had to pick Tbug up around 11:30 so we stayed and chatted with Deb, Grady, and Karen until we had to leave to go pick Tbug up. They told Grady at the hospital (I think it was the hospital) that the bear would become his best friend. He laughed and said, that is so true.

Once we got Tbug, we headed off to town to hubby's cousin's house for his side of the family's Christmas. So earlier this week, his cousin/aunt lost their step-dad/significant other to Congestive Heart Failure. Poor Aunt Cheryl wasn't in real good spirits if you can only imagine. After we ate lunch, she went in and started doing the dishes. That's one thing she ALWAYS does... dishes. Ambyr sent her out of the kitchen so she came in and sat with us at the table. Hubby asked her if she'd had dessert and she said no. Then he asked if she wanted a cookie (we took a cookie plate there with us too). She picked up a sleigh and called it a butterfly. We all started giggling and turning the sleigh every which way to decide what all it could be. It was a butterfly, a sleigh, a bear, a playboy bunny, and a few others I can't remember. Then hubby moved off to the Gingerbread man. We had Aunt Cheryl laughing so hard I thought she was going to start rolling on the floor. Probably something she really needed after the week she'd had.

And here's Tbug. It was our Christmas to have her Christmas Eve through Christmas Day so she was able to come to hubby's side of the family's Christmas.

Ambyr came in and showed me this picture of Abug hugging EA so of course I wanted a copy.

After we had our cookie fun, we all gathered in the main living room for present time. Abug made out like a bandit.

I'm not sure there are words. Okay, okay, the story... Abug needed this present moved out of her way to open other presents. I placed it up above my head so that it was out of her way and then we decided to see if I could balance it without holding on. Of course I can. I can also do that with a book and walk across the room wearing high heels. Just saying....

Now normally when Ambyr and hubby are together, one or the other of them wind up with icing of some sort on their face... but this year, this happened instead. I don't know what was really going on other than they were talking to Grandma.

Then we worked on pictures of all the grandkids with Grandma. Sadly it feels like his aunt does everything to keep me out of family pictures and this year was no different. The way it happened, after we left, then they started in on the family pictures. Now that excluded hubby and the girls too, so it wasn't just me. Oh well.... This makes the 3rd year.

We had to leave though to go home and start working on food for that evening with my family. The girls both LOVE to help cook so they jumped in and started helping me (and each other).

My grandma has needed a new recliner for years. This year we decided that was her Christmas present. When she arrived we all rudely took up every seat in the house so the only open spot was her new chair for her to sit in. We attached a piece of paper that said to Grandma from my parents and us. Then once she sat down, hubby asked how she liked the chair. When she said it was great, we were like good, it's yours and pointed out the name tag on it. She was thrilled.

Abug with her little stash of presents. We thought she might have system overload like last year and throw a fit about opening presents, but she opened presents like a champ. Then after we had our presents opened and it was time for dinner, she chose to sit in the living room and play with all her new toys. No one objected. We figured when she was hungry she'd come to the kitchen and she did, about the time dessert was served 😂.

Apparently all the guys got some sort of "underwear" or pants. And they all at one point or another had a bow on their head. I love my family!

Hubby got a mini drone for Christmas from my dad. We're talking mini. Those are K-cups behind it... yes it's that small. Sounds like a fly. It's kinda cute!

So for dinner we had ribs, rolls, green bean casserole, grandma's corn casserole, and for dessert Cranberry Christmas Cake with häagen dazs ice cream.

While Abug went up to shower and get ready for bed, she left grandma in charge of her new dolls.

Then Abug wrote her letter to Santa, set out cookies and milk, and scampered off to bed to await Santa's arrival overnight.
