Let there be rain….

And there was rain. Lots and lots of rain. And flooding. Did I mention the rain? The day after Christmas we got rain. And flooding. And the rain. And flooding. They compared this to the flood of the fall of 1993, I’m not sure it was quite that bad, but it was bad. We lost electricity and then the river met the lake by my house… when that happens, it’s only a matter of time before it goes over the road and closes us off from town. I don’t think it ever did though… but the lake did meet the river. But with no electricity and no wood to burn for our fireplace, we stayed the night with my parents for a night. And our pond that never holds but about 2 feet of water at most was full and flooding into our field.

 

So much flooding caused the dams on the major lakes around here to open flood gates.

And after the rain, there was snow…
